She had grown up in the shifting sands of Egypt. Her parents would travel from Pyramid to Pyramid and from tomb to tomb. One week she would be sleeping beneath the stars at the Rameseum and the next week she would be sleeping in her bed in the family home over-looking the Nile.
She had a happy childhood and she came to love Egypt and its history just as much as her parents did. She would pummel them with questions, and instead of just giving her the answers, they would show her how to discover the answers for herself. She spent her childhood learning to read hieroglyphs and examining relics from archaeological digs. She learned more with her parents on their digs than she learned in the classroom.
The came to have a deep respect for the land and for its people. The history spoke to her with a voice that only a few had ever heard. This was her land, her love. This was the land that had helped her to grow and she felt it had also helped to watch over her.
Even after tomb robbers killed her parents, she didn't stop loving the land where she had grown up.
